Four new Ballyhoura Outdoor Classrooms
Four new Ballyhoura Outdoor Classrooms have been approved in 2014 as centres for Discover Primary Maths and Science. Schools have great choice with exciting learning opportunities at Lough Gur, Doneraile Wildlife Park, Mitchelstown Caves and Griston Bog.
Ballyhoura Outdoor Classrooms are unique and inspiring places that are provided by Ballyhoura Heritage and Environment Ltd, a not-for-profit community organisation, to be a part of every local school’s learning environment.
Each Ballyhoura Outdoor Classroom is a beautiful, natural place specially chosen and managed for learning. Griston Bog is a raised bogland habitat with facilities especially designed to cater for outdoor activities in Science & Maths; Lough Gur is a Neolithic archaeological site incorporating history and science and Doneraile Court & Park is a 17th Century Demesne with an abundance of space to explore the flora and fauna and aquatic life along the river.

Following the successful run of Summer Tours we are now offering monthly tours on the 1st Wednesday of each month commencing 5th October, 10.30AM - 12 noon. €4 for adults, €3 child/senior citizens and under 4s are FREE.
